Wet wipes are a very common commodity in supermarkets and daily necessities often purchased by many families. After entering the summer, the temperature gradually rises. Many people like to take a bag of wet wipes to wipe their hands and face, which is more comfortable than using paper towels. Some citizens also carry wet wipes to wipe their hands and disinfect before going out to eat. The reporter saw in the supermarket that there are many kinds of wet wipes, but their functions are slightly different. Some clearly show that they can kill bacteria, and some outer packages have no words of disinfection and sterilization at all. Dermatologists believe that no matter whether it can be sterilized or not, wipes containing a variety of additives cannot be used frequently, otherwise they may induce dermatitis and other problems. There is a big difference between wet wipes on the market, including disinfection and non disinfection

The reporter conducted a survey in several large supermarkets in Shinan District and found that there are a wide variety of wet wipes. There are about seven or eight common brands, and the wet wipes sold by each brand are divided into at least two or three kinds. Look at the price. It's not expensive. The price of about 10 small packaged wipes is about 2-7 yuan. The packaging of wet wipes is slightly different. Some are packaged separately for each wet towel, while others are wrapped in 10 pieces in one bag.

The reporter looked at the functions marked on the outer packaging of various wet wipes and found that they are very different. They can be basically divided into two categories: one is to clearly indicate that they have the function of disinfection and sterilization. For example, some wet wipes are marked with "effectively killing Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans" and "after testing, they can quickly kill 99.9% of bacteria"; The other category is nothing to mention sterilization. The outer package is "soft skin", "green tea peppermint essence", "Mint honeysuckle essence" and so on.

Some people use it to disinfect, others wipe their hands to wipe sweat

In the process of investigating wet wipes, the reporter also randomly interviewed some citizens who bought wet wipes and asked them about the main purpose of buying wet wipes.

"Every time I go out to play, I have to buy a wet towel in advance. Wipe my hands before eating and disinfect them, and then wipe them after eating." Ms. Yan, a citizen, said that sometimes it is difficult to find water to wash my hands when I go out, and a bag of wet towel can disinfect, "but I'm not sure if I wipe my hands with a wet towel will dry, but at least there is a kind of psychological comfort." Many people like Ms. Yan buy wet wipes for disinfection. Citizen Liu Qingwen said that her mother-in-law takes Xiao Liu's children out to play. There are always wet wipes in her bag. When the children play with the soil, the old man immediately takes them out to wipe the children.

However, some citizens don't care about the disinfection of wet wipes. "When going out for an outing and eating fruit, sometimes the fruit juice will flow to their hands. It's sticky. It's very convenient to wipe with wet wipes without water." Ms. Chen, a citizen, values that wet wipes contain water. Wiping her face and hands is more comfortable and convenient than using paper towels.

Citizens can't tell whether they like to buy wet wipes

The reporter carefully looked through the ingredients of sterilized wipes and non sterilized wipes and found that the difference between the two is mainly in the added effective ingredients. It clearly states that the wipes that can kill Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Candida albicans and other bacteria are mainly added with chlorhexidine gluconate, benzalkonium chloride, benzalkonium chloride and other substances, and the specific addition amount of these substances is also indicated in detail. Non bactericidal wipes are mostly pure water, some plant essence, spices and so on, and those chemicals that look dizzy can hardly be seen.

In the interview, the reporter found that citizens who value the disinfection effect of wet wipes often choose wet wipes according to their personal preferences. For example, Ms. Yan, a citizen, said that she prefers a brand that is tasteless and often advertised on TV. In her opinion, as long as it is wet wipes, it is almost the same, "should be able to kill some bacteria." few consumers will check the product description in detail, Distinguish which wipes can sterilize and which can't.

Bactericidal ingredients or irritant non bactericidal ingredients also contain additives

Wet wipes are really convenient to use, but what do experts think of this commodity and citizens' use habits?

Tang Zhanli, chief physician of Dermatology Department of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, said after listening to the reporter's investigation that the chemicals with bactericidal effect and chlorine containing ingredients added to the bactericidal wipes do have a certain disinfection function for the bacteria on the skin surface, but this function is limited and it is impossible to kill all bacteria. If such wipes are frequently used to wipe the skin, it may cause irritation to the skin. As for non bactericidal wipes, Tang Zhanli believes that although no bactericidal chemicals are added, there are also many additives with complex components. Once the package is opened, it is difficult to ensure that the wipes do not change in a high temperature environment. Frequent use is not conducive to skin health. If the two types of wipes are not used properly, they may cause contact dermatitis and other problems.

Tang Zhanli believes that when there is no water to clean the skin, if you do come into contact with unclean items, it is OK to wipe it occasionally with a wet towel, but it is never recommended to use it every day.
